| Ladd was not a trained dancer, but she
is one fine mover. She uses a precise gestural language
of signing, and her gangsta moves and druggy eyes ring
true.
But her Scarface* is not easily labeled as dance, or
as theatre either. It’s just ferocious and funny,
as over the top in its small way as the film, though
charmingly contained in a modest 45 minute package.
Scarface* ends with film-style credits in Welsh and
English. Dedicated to Ladd’s Auntie Beryl, the
words hang sweetly in the still blue air. Say goodnight
to the bad guy. |
